A family story…
The story of Leonor Greyl begins with the meeting of two passionate human beings: Leonor, a hair care and beauty fanatic, and Jean-Marie, an engineer and very keen botanist. Together, they share a common desire: creating natural hair care products long before the ‘bio’ trend became a hit.
Thus, as the couple met in 1968, they clicked. Plants hold no secrets for Jean-Marie Greyl, who also has a degree in galenics. The idea of creating hair care products using plants and natural ingredients, not a mainstream practice at that time, catches on, and so the Leonor Greyl line was born.
The first ‘green-chic’ products were then conceived and quickly became must-haves: the amazing Huile de Palme (now L’Huile de Leonor Greyl), the Shampooing au Miel as well as the Lait Lavant à la Banane and of course the well-known Crème aux Fleurs…
At that time, the most prestigious Parisian hairdressers spread the word to their clients, to the point where they started swearing by the brand that guaranteed a very special savoir-faire.
An innovating maison de coiffure, Leonor Greyl already integrated essential vitamins in her shampoos’ formulas and designed indispensable products that came with their own, brand new beauty rituals.
Over the years, these creations scored one success after another and became real must-haves. For instance, the Huile de Germe de Blé was the first oil to ever treat the scalp and wash it by foaming in contact with water; the Bain Traitant à la Propolis was the first ever daily anti-dandruff hair care product; the innovative Masque Fleurs de Jasmin for fine hair and Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou for long hair are also masterpieces by Leonor Greyl.
These products that make hair shine ever brighter, feel ever softer, look ever more beautiful have quickly propelled Leonor Greyl towards the top and raised her to the status of absolute natural ha

Above all, Leonor Greyl remains a family business.
Today, spurred on by Caroline Greyl, second generation and graduate of an international business school, the brand is represented in 450 hair salons, about a hundred department stores, in selective perfumeries and in more than 40 countries around the world! Caroline has taken over the helm of the family flagship with her American husband – Tom Brooks, a biologist, chemist and plant lover. It looks as though the Greyl tradition is set to last for a great deal longer, as passion, nature and integrity remain the core values of this beautiful family story.
